A zero carbon wedding venue
Holding a green wedding at the Pines Calyx is a step into a green future where we can live healthily and sustainably without it costing the earth.
The building’s design works directly with patterns and forms drawn from nature. This unique ‘naturally inspiring’ design has led to it receiving a clutch of awards and it being recognised as the UK’s most sustainable weddings and events venue.
A remarkable, zero-carbon building with a design that fuses cutting-edge technology and ancient building techniques. Depending on the weather and the time of day the centre lights, warms or cools guests without using one scrap of carbon.
Holding a Green Wedding
The average wedding can contribute 14.5 tonnes of CO2 to the atmosphere (nearly double one person’s carbon footprint for the year). Your Pines Calyx wedding makes a much lower footprint from the outset and our wedding team can help you reduce it even further.
By holding a ‘green wedding’ you make a statement to your friends and loved ones that you are as committed to our world as you are to each other. Ask our team for the accompanying fact sheet for ideas and information on holding a green wedding.

green catering

Use organic, seasonal, local and fairtrade food where possible. All our carefully selected caterers can provide you with menus which incorporate this.
Source fairtrade organic and biodynamic wines as well as beers, lagers and ciders through your chosen caterer or us.
Use locally produced juice from Ashford and water from Kingsdown, fairtrade and organic coffee.
sustainable venue

We have a natural air-conditioning system! The sea and garden air naturally flows into the building via an underground pipe.
We use eco friendly cleaning products in the kitchen and all our food waste goes to an appropriate compost heap.
All our bottles, plastic, cardboard and tins are taken away and ethically recycled.
organic gardens

Our gardens have been run organically since the spring 2002. This is far more than just using herbicides and pesticides but working in harmony with the natural systems, composting, recycling waste materials and learning how to use natural predators to control pests. Our recommended florist will locally source, and even grow, flowers to your request, with enough prior notice.
